Ride Description

Likely you’ve never heard of the Chelan Mountains.  And why should you come here?  This mountainous region is part of the Northern Cascades and one of the best kept secrets in the Pacific Northwest.  This riding area tips it’s hat to the eastside of the Cascade Crest, so you have a more arid environment and a nice contrast from the Westside landscape that is full of Vegetation.  If you’ve come to ride the PNW loam, this is not your ride.   If you come for 5,000 ft. descents and an alpine landscape, this is your ride!  This day begins by meeting at the Pot Peak Trailhead where you hop in the shuttle van for a nice 2 hour shuttle ride to our drop point near Stormy Mountain Peak.  The van takes us from 1,100 ft in elevation to our drop point at 6,000 ft.  Right out of the van, our journey begins.  Our ride starts uphill with a 1,200 foot ride/hike a bike to the top of Stormy Peak at 7,200 ft in elevation.  Let the fun begin.  We have a really fun descent from the peak of Stormy Mountain as we make our way west and traverse toward the iconic Devils Backbone ridgeline.  The landscape is unique, Click Here and Here for a peak at some photos.  We undulate through the chunky and raw Alpine landscape.   It’s beautiful and at the same time unforgiving.  It’s an incredible landscape not many get to lay eyes on, and what we’re trying to say the juice is worth the squeeze.   With 4,600 in climbing over the entire day (8,500 descent!), you experience punchy little climbs followed by really fun short descents along the ridgeline.  The views are expansive, and playing in the Alpine landscape accentuates it.   Our goal to to work our way west over to the start of the 25 mile creek trail and a nice 5,000 ft descent to the end of our ride.  We choose this as our pathway off the mountain because we feel this is one of the best descents to introduce you to this area.  Come explore some new trails and let us show you around the backcountry of Lake Chelan.  Camp for the weekend or rent a house, and let’s go ride some bikes!
